Unhappy Help 05 GT Stalling/won't run - Solved

I was cruising my 05 GT tonight and it started to stumble like it was out of gas, but it's got 1/2 a tank in it. I checked for codes and nothing... I had to go to the store and decided since it was a nice night to just cruise the neighborhood. I was in second gear doing about 25 just loafing around. At first it would rev somewhat but couldn't take a load. I had to shift into first and rev and fan the clutch just to get home (lucky I was a tenth/mi away). It stalled in the drive and after I restarted it it barely idled and if you touch the gas it stalls right out.

I've got a diablo 93 tune, bbk cold air, and FRPP stinger exhausts. I reflashed the stock tune in and it still has the same issue. The car has ~44k miles on it.

Ideas?

Sounds like low fuel pressure if it stalls when you touch the gas. Amazing that its not throwing any codes. Just thinking, maybe a problem with the fly by wire throttle. I know its probably driving you crazy cause it would me. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Let us know what you find out.

Try the simple stupid stuff first. Make sure all the fittings for your cold air intake are tight, especially at the throttle body.

Everything's tight.

I hooked up the diablo and went to live data. With the engine off, key on, I'm showing 0psi fuel rail pressure. When I did get it to run briefly it only got up to 6-8 psi. I'm thinking that's fine for a holley but isn't that a little low for FI? What should the FRP be at idle?

Also I know these cars have a saddle tank. Is it possible to show 1/2 a tank of gas and have none around the pump?

I'm going to go get a couple gals of gas and try that in order to eliminate stupid, then I'm going to get my original airbox out of storage and grab my trailer and off to the dealer to make use of the extended warranty.

Hmmm... The plot thickens....

I put 2 gal in it and KOEO I got 4psi... Started it and it came up to 38-40psi. Took it for a drive and it seems fine...

Gas gauge shows over 1/2 a tank... Gal used shows 16.0... I'm usually good about resetting that...

So did I really use 16 gals and the tank was empty and the gauge it wrong?

Or...

Is the gauge correct and I forgot to reset the gal used and something else is wrong?

Tune in to the next episode to find out...

Off to fill the tank and see what she takes...

Drum roll please.....

She took 14gal to fill her... +2 from the can is 16, which matches up with gal used on the computer...

So it's attack of the stupid gas gauge design... What was wrong with a float?

Well at least I've found out a couple things... The tank holds 16 gals... And the stock tune SUCKS!

Oh well... Guess I'll bring the car in for the airbag reflash and parking brake cable fix before I put the 93 tune back in...

Moral of the story is "Always eliminate stupid..." At least it saved me a trip to grab my trailer and showing up at the dealer with an out of gas car on a trailer...

Had to post... I can't stand when you read though pages of posts and then nothing... Or worse yet it will be a simple one word "fixed" post and you have no idea what was done to fix it.

So, how likely do you think the dealer will be to replace the sender?

Ha... Ha ha....

I didn't want to mention the empty gas tank scenario and insult your intelligence. It seems we all have a brain fart from time to time. Glad is was nothing serious.
