Post Leather Steering Wheel Peeling

Over the past year, I've noticed at different times pieces of the leather on the steering wheel coming off on my hands. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It's somewhat to what I had, nothing was peeling yet but the feeling wasn't right, so now I don't even touch the leather on my steering wheel, it got 3 small areas with aluminum or w/e that material is, I just put my hand on that when I steer.

I don't have a problem with the leather on the steering wheel but the horn emblem is bubbling or peeling. It's getting worse as time passes.

I've had 3 Mustangs, '97, 2000, & 2006. All 3 had similiar issues with peeling steering wheels. The first two cars, were replaced under warranty. My present '06, it was after the warranty espired, so I replaced it myself with a Bullitt wheel. Ford needs to up the quality of their leather.

I had the same problem but mine never got worse. It just looked like a crappy outline of the horse but the more i looked at it i was like...theres no way. Took it in and they replaced the WHOLE wheel no questions asked.

I have had no problems with the leather steering wheel. The key is to keep your hands CLEAN. Also clean the steering wheel once a month ATLEAST and put some leather protectant on it.

I use Lexol leather cleaner or Duragloss leather cleaner...and alternate with a leather conditioner (meguires, surf city etc.) and a Leather protectant (optimum Protectant plus)

Hmm...I took mine in for reg service two weeks ago and told the rep about it. After doing research, he told me they can't replace the wheel under warranty. Maybe I should try again.

I was thinking of going this route...

Some of the examples don't look bad since you stich the leather over the wheel. Especially nice if you have the red interior, I like the look of the two tone red and black. Too bad my car is all black interior.
