Default report from vacation trip

Hi everyone! Got back from vacation trip to Colorado (I live in Missouri) and thought you might be interested in how the V6 performed. Overall, I still love the car. On the first tank gas mileage figured 29mpg! As I steadily gained altitude it went down to 24mpg and once there maintained about 18 which was mostly town driving. On the way back, mpg increased as I lost altitude. Was back up to aroung 25 before I got home and have'nt filled it up again yet. One issue talked about was the head rest. I have become accustomed to it and it is quite comfortable. As far as effects on my x-cal tune, I think the mpg says it all. However I did not ever hear the engine knock so apparently the computer was able to adjust timing as needed. I think the trans. has smoothed out a lot. The clutch pedal free travel is about 3 to 4 inches off the floor now and overall shifting is really nice. The magnaflow exhaust still sounds great. It doesn't seem any louder than when I installed it. I was a good boy and kept it under 90 the entire trip (I didn't want to use my vacation money on tickets). It does seem to want to run right around 80. Very smoooooooth. I think the only problem I had was an annoying rattle from the exhaust. I'm still trying to locate the source. My wife and I enjoyed the entire trip and I will post some pics as soon as possible.

Glad you had a great trip, and great gas mileage.

Have you checked the heat sheilds on the catalytic converters? I had a rattle coming from my '01 when I first got it, and it ended up being the heat shields on the cats. Just a suggestion, I really don't know a whole lot about the cars but thought I would throw that out there.

I have the magnaflo exhaust I also notice a rattling noise during start of acceleration it sounds to me like it's coming from the mid pipe connections.

The faster you're moving when the fuel runs out = the farther you'll coast.

After I got my tune I never really checked mileage. I was too busy enjoying the new power. It wasn't too long after the CAI that we went on vacation and once again I hadn't really checked mpg. We don't drive the car very much except maybe on weekends if it's nice out. Trying to make this one last a long time.
