Default Trade in values

I recently started looking into other mustangs and switching over to the darkside with a older zo6. Seems like most dealerships won't offer me more then 20gs for my car. I know kbb said like 23 for clean trade in and then the NADA says 20g. I guess with the crappy economy they really can't give you what you want anymore. I wanted to see if anyone on here had traded in or tried like me. To see what they got for there mustangs mines a 08 by the way.

I was close a couple times 3 weeks ago tradding my car in for a STI. I have 18000 miles on my car and its in near flawless shape. the lowest i was offered was 16000 and the highest was 18500 for it. The best bet to to sell it private, but ive never herd any one selling a car private that wasnt rare find like a TT supra or my frinds boss's 512TR. But good luck it, thoses Z06's can get mean with some mild bolt ons and sound INSANE with a cam

Yeah I actually asked the two dealerships the first time if they were trying to insult me. Being a younger kid and all (19) almost like they take me as a joke. Then as I went to more dealerships it was all the same. They all have the same excuse how are we suppose to make money if we give you blue book value. It seems liek though I use other cars as references and I just get more excuses or I won't hear back from them. I guess you just have to find that one place that will deal or I'll just have to sell it out right.

Actually the economy propped up used car values since people stopped buy new ones. If you think it's bad now when the new motor comes out I expect to see 25% across the board drop in resale values for Stangs...

In hindsight while I love my Stang, I was about to buy a 03 z06 but the 0% got me into my 06 GT but I should have gotten the Vette... But i'm done with buying cars, keeping the Stang till the panels rust off...

Don't buy a vette. The people who own them are douche bags. Ask me how I know. Too bad because the car is really sharp but be prepared for the reputation that comes with owning one and it's not good.

@ptaylor - your sig doesn't have the Z06 in there anymore...just the 07 GT

if you are looking to ditch your Mustang...do it now. The 2010's are on the lots and the 05-09's are dying because of it. When Ford releases the 2011 and/or the 5.0 engine...you can pretty much expect the 05-09 GT's to get their value halved.

Same story with any car. We just know that a major value killer is coming. If that $18,500 is near what you owe...take it and run. If not, just keep the car and be more selective next time you buy.

Trading in at the stealership is the easier seamless way, but you get royally screwed. That's why if you want the most dollar try to sell private party. More paperwork and legwork but it's worth the time and effort. We're talking an extra few thousand dollars and that's a lot.
