Question Nail in tire!!

Got a nail in one of my tires. Surprising that it was a good 5 psi low and the TPMS did not go off. Anyway, I am taking it to my local tire shop (already took it off the car) to get patched. Do I have to do anything to the TPMS when I reinstall the tire/wheel, or will it automatically re-sync itself once I remount and drive it around? Also, they will have to remove the tire from the rim and re-balance. Right now all the wheel weights are on the inside. I am going to make sure that I tell them not to put any on the outside, that would look like ****!!

Most likely the sensor will recalibrate on it's own. You will not have to rebalance the tire. The mechanic can simply spin the rim back to it's original position on the tire.

The wheel needs to be balanced after the repair. The weight of the patch/plug will change the balance.

The weight of the patch is minimal and will not affect the balance. Most good tire techs will mark the spot of the wheel weight (if any on the outer lip) and/or mark the spot on the sidewall where it lines up with the valve stem with a tire chalk and simply remount the tire, slap a new weight back on and your good to go. I know this cuz I have been in the tire/auto repair industry for a long while now.... Just take it to a reputable shop in your area, most Big O's are ok, or a place that does wheels and tires only....

the Tire Shop had better mark the rim and tire so they go back together in the exact same spot.

watch them and demand it. This will almost pretty much negate the whole need for balancing.

True that, just keep an eye and you'll be straight.

I'm just going to give you a heads up,,, as i've had an absolute nightmare this past 2 weeks after a flat. I threw my spare on on drove up the street to the nearest belle tire. I explain i have a nail in the tire, they are nice enough and patch it for free. they failed to mention that they snapped my tpms band.
I get going 55 on the highway just down the road and my stearing wheel is shaking violently like it's not balanced correctly...
Turned my *** around and went right back... after another 45 minutes they told me i was good, so i leave, get back on the highway and shes fine,,, until the tpms fail sensor comes on 2 days later. I took it to ford thinking maybe they replaced the tpms and it needs to be re-synced cause I'd had my fill of said Belle Tire,,, Ford says that it's non responsive to the sync and $100 to take her apart if i wanted.
I say no thanks, get on the highway towards home and bam wheel is shaking like a son of a bitch again. I drive slowly to our other belle tire, explain I'm very upset and would like to see whats going on in my tire as the other Belle has done nothing right yet,,, They pop my tire off, reach in and pull out a monster zip tie that had the tpms attached at 1 side only!!! looked like he caught a dead rat in my wheel!!!
They apologized whole-heartedly and I was allowed to watch them reattach the tpms with a correct band after they promised to get me a new sensor if it broke from firing around wildly in my tire. Thankfully it's been 4 days now and I have had 0 problems (knock on wood) and the sensor turned out fine....

Sorry about the rant ha! the tpms has been a nightmare for me though

And I was planning on taking it to Belle Tire. I am in Novi, it wasn't that one that you had trouble with was it??

Thanks for the good advise here. Yes, I will be sure to inform them that they are to mark the tire and reinstall at the same location thus no need to balance.
