Default V6 Modification Thoughts

I have a 2005 White V6 Mustang, 20,000 miles, very nice for used 2005. I'm not too crazy about the standard front Bumper look of the V6 and GT Mustangs, but do like the rest of the cars design. So being an Engineering Designer I have an eye for what looks good!! I plan on replacing my Standard V6 Front bumper & hood with a GT500 Front bumper and Std GT500 Hood. Deleting all Cobra emblems, 'Cause it isnt a GT500, Its a V6 Pony Car! My V6 has the Pony Pkg. so it has the stripe & pony fender emblems which are staying on it and im getting one for the grill, to replace where the cobra is suppose to go. Windows are tinted and have body colored mirror caps already from previous owner. Took the Black "MUSTANG" std rocker stripes off, Its not going to have any stripes anywhere.

Now im not too sure what to do for the rear. Im going to put and Ford racing Dual Exhaust on so im going to go with either a GT or GT500 bumber wich both fit the V6, Im not to sold on the cut V6 bumper look. Which one im not sure yet. And the rockers i may stay with the V6 Black or get GT Painted. Not sure on this either. It already has the GT500 Tail Spoiler from the previous owner. so Im ok there. And Wheels im still deciding on yet. My idea is to make it MY STYLE V6 PONY CAR, not a GT500 or a Std V6 or GT! And I may just paint it like the ROUSH RTC. White on Bottom, Black on top w/ Blue pin stripe.

Im just looking for anyones thoughts or ideas? Do you like it or not? etc?

And go with the GT500 bumper for the rear. I just had one put on and it looks badass.

So which drugs are you selling to pay for the $9825 in mods you just listed?

Keep in mind your car is worth close to that amount.

First of all, how did you come up with 9825? And why the questioning in how he plans to pay for it. He merely asked for our opinion. If you ask me, I say go for the GT500 look and the rear GT500 bumper will look better than the CS bumper because V6 comes with an unpainted textured rockers to match. He doesnt really need the hood and being its black, Im sure he can find black takeoffs from Shelby from the SS conversions. He can call Kevin for the GT500 kit and tell him he saw conversions on the forums and Joe sent him over and make sure he hooks him up with a good price. With all the stuff he wants, I dont think it will even add up to half of the 9825. He's looking closer to 3k for what he wants to do. I say go for it. I dont have to tell you Im a fan of the GT500 conversion. Contact me if you need help.

Go for it! And like Mellowyellow said, "Contact me if you need help." It's very eazy to do by yourself...... And also, don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't do to YOUR car. Put whatever you want on it from badges to paint, I would hate to see if the early god fathers of Modding let people talk them out of doing the mods they did that got this whole thing started........

He rattled off a bunch of OEM parts, I just put it into my estimate program and added the Ford Racing Dual Exhaust, and a set of tires $600, gave him a 20% parts discount and a $45 an hour labor fee.

His post sounded super excited but the fact is there is a 90% chance he will not be doing it.

People get all excited about modifying Mustangs, and think it's cheap, they will get a good return on their investment, and that doing it is easy.

The reality is that none of those things are true.

You and Cutterwolf are all either very smart or got very lucky with appearance mods.

The real world isn't like that, I could think of at least ten different appearance setups that would be better worth $10,000, "if you do something unique it costs twice as much as copying something" - that something from the mouth of Jesse James when he was describing customizing cars to a guy that was asking him about it. Things are never going to look like you think they do unfortunately I see it all the time.

People really don't realize how much these cars cost too. They get excited and get sticker shock. Worse yet they run out of money half way through, and they only finish half of their mods and the car ends up looking unbalanced.
