Default Question on new product developement

Ok well i have an idea that id love to put into action since it will be very cheap to make and should work great but im not sure on how legal it is. If i used a ford part to make an overlay (such as a tint overlay for their tail lights) am i violating a copyright? I have some great ideas on making a few overlays that could turn out awesome i just dont want to get into trouble with the law.

Once i get the legality figured out ill release some more info. As of right now im gonna keep it quite because if it works, it will be sooooo easy to do and will make some very cheap appearance mods.

I don't think you have to worry about copyright issues. It's not as if you're trying to resell the lights as Ford items right? Afterall, they are modified by you. However, in most states altering the lighting is illegal- especially tinting them.
