I was using it and it may have been my imatination but i felt i was going a lot faster than goin on drive. Would that be ideal for goingn 0-60 or would it mess my car up om the longer run?

Hey, everybody has to start some place.

Suggestion to OP-- start by reading your Owner's Guide.

To the other posters--automatic transmissions don't all operate the same. I had a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter. If you put that in 2nd and came to a stop, the car would start off in 1st and then shift to 2nd. There was no way to start off in 2nd.

All kidding aside though..

No, shifting 1-2-3-D will not give you a better 0-60, its best to just let the transmission do its thing. I mostly use it to slow down, when I'm coming up to a red light, I drop it to 3rd (or 2nd, depending on the speed..) and engine break.

Or, if I'm on the highway and need to gain some speed fast, I drop it to 3rd, hammer it, and shift it back to D right before redline.

That isn't what its actually FOR, but hey... that's what I use it for.. lol
