does anybody know if a U7140 (2005-2006 tuner) can be updated via diablo updates to work for the 07-09 models? I know that the 07+ models require model number U7145 but would the update handle this?

 

Its a software thing, not a hardware thing so maybe you
can sweettalk Diablo MotorSports to change your U7140
into a U7145 for a minor cost.
You must really be getting a deal on this U7140 to want
to pay to have it changed to a U7145.

 

actually i have it in the parts for sale section. It came with my procharger and i dont need it since i already have the SCT. Just dont want to sell anybody something for a newer model stang that wont work.

if it was a software thing, then you should be able to download the software from the internet to make it work, correct???

 

Not 100% sure, but no.
If so, you could take your old tuner, lets say for an 07 stang, U7145,
and return the stang to stock, unlocking the tuner, then selling the stang.
Then purchasing a, lets say, 09 Challenger that takes a U7136 Diablo,
go to the website, download the U7136 software and turn your U7145
marked Diablo into a U7136 marked as a U7145 and use it on the new
Challenger. How would Diablo make any money that way.
I say no.
Then there is a U7136 marked as a U7145 running around out in the
real world. And Diablo has no way of tracking it or maintaining the
warranty period or nothing...

 

man, if every response on the forums was this understandable, agreeable, and straight forward, this forum would be a much happier place. lol...157db, i totally understand what you are saying; And i agree. I'm sure i will have to send it in or sale it as is for a 05-06.

 

Go to Diablo's website and they have a forum you can ask them on.
I can tell you right now that no, it will not work. It wont allow that
software upgrade. Its locked to the U7140 only.

Sell it and get what you need.

FYI- Used they are going for between $160 - $200.
Buy a used U7145 and you wont be out too much.

 

yeah, it's actually brand new. Im not looking for another one. Just trying to recover some of the gillions of dollars i just spent on the procharger by moving parts i dont need.
