Default stupid rocks

gah. so i have an 07 vista blue car. daily driver, but i love the thing. the other day a rock came up and hit the side of my car. it took off the dern paint about the size of a dime near the door handle right where the driver's door meets the rear quarter panel, down to the metal. sticks out like a sore thumb. no dent, just chipped the paint. worth fixing or am i just letting it drive me crazy??

Take it to a body shop. Should be a cheap repair.

Just be careful and and do a good job applying some touch up. Fill it in to help keep the rust out and it'll also go a long way towards it looking better. Not worth repainting IMO.

Yeah it would drive me crazy too. I would get it taken care of before it starts to rust. A lot of your local used car dealers use mobile car repairs. Try one of those or take it to a body shop.

Get some good touch up paint (good color match). Just fill it in. It won't be perfect, but it won't stick out like a sore thumb either.

I have a dime sized dent in my front pillar on the driver sides. Rock on the freeway. It chipped down to the metal AND dented it. I filled it in with some touch up paint from a body shop (ford and autozone paint DOES NOT MATCH for me) and I barely even notice it now. Before it was visible from 15' away.

get the touch-up paint and do it in very very slight stages.

apply a feather-thin coat.

allow to dry.

repeat until you've re-built the paint thickness up. if you are patient and neat, the spot will be pretty easy to cover-up and almost be invisible. be in a hurry and it will look like crap

That stinks. I had something similar and I was told they would have to paint the entire panel to do it right. I used touch up paint and it came out okay. Waiting to get another dent or chip somewhere on the panel to make it worth repainting.

Cost should be around $100-$150 to touch up the panel.

I know how you feel, got some dings on my hood 'cause of some damn rocks. To me it's not worth repainting - might just get a new hood in the future
