Tire Rotation?
Dumb question, I know...[
]
I've done rotations before. Before I've used the diferential as a jacking point, book says not to. I have a small "service jack" works. I have jack stands, four. I have the car's jack.
The books says back wheels forward, and the front wheels cross on their way back. My last ride I only rotated front to back on each side, and cause the car was so stiff, I could pick up a whole side with one jack, pretty easy that way.
Anyone does this already in their driveway?
Thanks.

I think if you put the jack past the metal cover on the differential you would be alright because the metal cover hangs down some. I think Ford is covering there a** because people would be putting the jack under the cover.
MY last ride still resides here. It is on it's 26th set of tires. I didn't rotate them often either, just replaced, often.
Thought I'd try rotating the GT's tires. Wallet is a little weak/empty/cob webb filled lately. Plan to fix it, but, life does things to you.

Personally, I never rotate. I just buy new every 24 months. I figure at least once every two years some really cool tire comes along that I just have to have, so...

Most of you probly do you own rotations or would rather no one else touch thier ride, but my Goodyear offers Road Hazard protection for all tires, nation wide. We add in free rotation every 6,000 miles. Cost about 40-44 bucks. Repairs and replacements covered until 2/32 of rubber.
I have one GT Customer, real nice guy, so I did the rotation myself becuase I wanted to drive it :P (and didnt want our GS kid to screw anything up)
We shot the breeze while I was workin on his car, and he was sure I didnt screw nuttin up.
Not a bad investement in my mind.
I rotate every oil change, Im very hard on my tires as Im sure most of you are, nothing more I hate than a noisy tire from hard cornering feathering.
The book is right, The RMA (Rubber manufactors Association) says the Non-drive wheels cross and you move front to rear. And most places follow this.
This way the tire ends up in all positions on the car evening out the wear to all 4 tires. Making them last longer, and ride smoother.

Never a rest for Mister Roper.
I usually rotate every second oil change (~7k miles), but I'll have to pay a little more attention to my tires with the Mustang. I'm used to riding around on much bigger wheels! I have no idea how these softer Pirellis will wear, or how long they'll last...
Excuse me... Don't the tires rotate while your going down the road?
At least - aren't they supposed to?
LOL
With steel belted I have always switch front to rear without X crossing them.. I have had the belt come appart from having the tire turn the "other" direction and it wasn't fun.
