has anyone found a solution to this? it's a pretty big inconvenience given how much the battery drains if you don't remember to stop the ipod from automatically playing each time you enter the car...

there is also one other thing--can you set the stereo to automatically default to usb playing so that if i have a usb flash drive hokked up permanently, i don't have to keep telling it to go to the usb instead of the iphone?

it may be a solution to both problems to disable the automatic selection of bluetooth. In other words, when I have it playing on usb, and then take the usb plug off while playing, it automatically selects bluetooth and keeps playing. instead of that, you can have it set to usb, and won't automatically revert to bluetooth unless specifically directed to.

is a sync update the only resolution?

Sometimes the iphone will 'forget' or drop the connection with they SYNC system, especially if you use your iphone with more than one BT device like i do. All you have to do is go into 'settings' > 'general' > 'bluetooth' > and Select "SYNC"

Or at least thats how i do it if the phone will not play music via BT.

Also, to the OP I do not have any auto play problems, most likely because as i stated before i have my iphone syncing with multiple BT devices instead of just the SYNC system.

I have a dedicated iPod for my car and thus my iPhone is just used for bluetooth phone calls.

And how Do you get it to not play automatically Bluetooth audio when you get in the car? Mine plays it from the iPhone automatically, even when the stereo is OFF!! It's really driving me bananas.

Yeah I have all sorts of problems once I updated my iphone to the new OS. It worked playing music threw the USB for a couple days, then it started saying it was not a supported device. BT music still works along with making handsfree calls.

Real PITA it has been trying to use the IPhone with SYNC. Wish I had got an Android phone now...

It also seems like Ford has been talking about a new software update for over a year. Lots of people on Fords own SYNC message board (syncmyride.com) swear it will never come out.
