Default Rear Window Louver Paint Prep?

I have an aluminum rear window louver from Roush that I'm going to get painted. The guys at my paint shop that I could save some bills by preping it myself. Yet, they didn't tell me how and I didn't want to ask. So, my question is, How do i prep this thing? I'm guessing, cleaning it and hitting it with some 400 grit paper? Any suggetions?

I couldn't say, but my Ford dealerships bodyshop preped my aluminum Astra-Hammond (with the black powder coat) and painted to match my Alloy. After 1 1/2 years it still looks like the day it came out of their shop.

Tell me that's a satellite antenna and NOT a whale tail on the back of your Stang!!!

If you like it, that's all that matters...

just how much money will you save?
might be better to have the shop do it.

I'd save about $150. Not a huge deal, but if it's only some sanding, a six pack will get me through that. I'm having them paint it white.
