Wow, I thought I had heard it all but I didn't know about the tactic of advertising XX% off MSRP, and it's a friggin' used car! And I'm sure that particular car is long gone by the time anyone comes to look at it anyway.

====They would tell us "if anyone asks about the ad get them off the subject and sell them something else".==

I bet they have a lot of trouble keeping anyone working there that has an ounce of integrity. I mean, it's not like all the buyers walking through the door are bible-toting truth lovers, but when your boss is basically telling you "Hey, be ready because all the ads we're running are BS" it's got to be tough to feel any motivation!

One of the local Ford dealers here in Charlotte (not the one I bought mine from) runs an ad every week that shows a Windviel Blue GT in the photo with "Over 45 Mustangs on hand for $18,888" under the photo. If they even have a GT you can bet your butt they wouldn't take $18,888 for it even if it was wrecked.

I live in Dallas and went to 3 dealerships before I found one I felt comfortable purchasing mine from. Very, very bad experiences with the first two dealerships or should I say very bad salesmen.

A Cadilac dealer here in STL ran an advert once.. on TV and in the Paper..

Buy a Caddy Eldorado - $1.00... ... ... Buy the Key $XX,XXX.

A lady took them to court.. she wanted to buy the car without buying the key "from them"... the court made the dealership sell her a new Eldorado for ONE Dollar! HAHAHA... and yea.. they stopped running that advert!

That's funny. I would do it too. Screw the key! I could probably find someone to hotwire the car for the money saved.

Sure, just buy several and tow them to the junkyard (or local chop shop). Free money!!!

That is exactly what they deserve. In China (I believe), they stopped selling a specific hair shampoo product because it said that it guarantees to strengthen hair by 20% or so. Since the company could not provide actual proof, they no longer can sell their product there.

It is typical for Advertisements to tell you one thing just to get you in the door. There is a matress commercial for $39. Of course it is the cheapest, crappiest, etc. matress you will ever see when you go there. Then, since you are there, you start looking at all the higher priced, more comfortable, etc. matresses.

I believe advertisers should be held accountable for their tactics.
