Thanks a lot for the help guys. The person I bought the intake from has been really honest about the whole situation and has tried to rectify the situation.

Like someone mentioned, a small difference in the size of the box can have a huge impact on the cost. The company that he has originally contacted about shipping was trying to screw him because of the box size. He was able to find a smaller box and get the intake into it so it seems as though all is well.

Thanks again guys!

-Chris

good to hear

as a side note, next time you ship something relatively small, try using a USPS Flat Rate box.

$14 for up to 70 lbs, and they have 2 different box sizes. Most economical way to ship I've found so far.

good to know since i still have some stuff for sale on here. With this option, do you have to purchase the box from them or can you use your own box of equal dimensions? thats another way they would be able to get you is having to pay and arm and a leg for the box. either way, $20 to ship up to 70lbs is still a good deal.

the box from USPS is free. you can even order them from their website, and have them delivered to your door for free.

they have 4 different Flat Rate fee boxes.

from $5.95 up to the $14.00 box

and then they have a $37.00 Priority Mail rate for boxes bigger than their flat rate box. 20x20" I think for those dimension...but it has a lower weight rating.

visit http://www.usps.com and look around. I've found that the USPS outperforms Fed-Ex, UPS, DHL hands down. Quicker, cheapers, more reliable.
I've shipped my F-150 suspension stuff from here in Hawaii to New York in 3 days...Texas in 2 days. For less than $20.

vs. Fed-Ex who lost my PCM and took 4 days to "Overnight" my PCM from Hawaii to Michigan.

vs. UPS who took 1 week and $50 to ship my X-Box 360 to Seattle

well for you USPS might be good but for us mainlanders lol fedex and ups are great, my job is shipping and i can say that fedex has about the same prices as ups but they break a lot more packages. ups does break a few things but they approve almost all of our claims.

as for the prices for shipping for you tylus its all because ur in hawaii, for us (we get great rates) we pay about $40 for ground with UPS but for every other state except alaska its usually like $7 to 10 to ship a package 20 pounds and under.

not really

UPS has their residential "delivery" fees for heavier items, and misc other fees for just about anything. Residential Delivery fee is usually $50-100 extra unless you have a business address...not sure why

Fed-Ex is decent on the mainland. But they have fewer shipping centers than UPS, so they aren't as quick to deliver.
