Default Shipping Question

Hey Guys,

I just purchased an intake from a member on the forums, and he has been super cool to deal with. Great seller. But we just came across a problem.

He lives in 'bama and I live in California and the initial quote for shipping was $17 but the shipping store misquoted him. The store went on to claim that shipping is going to cost $52.

So the question is, for those of you have shipped an intake before, how much did it cost, and what method did you use?

Thanks,

Chris

Wow! I'd think as long as it's disassembled that the box wouldn't be much bigger than 14" square, if that, and would only weigh about 4 lbs or so. That shouldn't cost anywhere near that much. Find out the box dimensions and weight and find out for yourself.

That is a good point... I will check with the seller. Thanks Nuke.

I just went to the UPS website and if the package was 8lbs the cost of shipping basic with for ground would be $15.64. For FedEx Home Delivery it should be around $15.96 for a 10lb package with 4 day delivery.

Based on that, I am interested to see how the shipping companies are estimating their prices, as the estimated prices I worked out are right on with the seller I am working with. Is it reasonable to figure that the package would be 14x14x10 with a weight of between 8 lbs and 10 lbs?

Anyone that has shipped an intake have any insight?

Bump for some help. If not, could a mod please move this to a sub-forum where I might get some info?

I shipped a set of golf clubs, way heavier and way larger than an intake, for like $50-$60 through UPS. I don't think it would cost that much to ship an intake. How is being that inflated price being quoted....overnight, next day, 2-day, regular ground? That has a lot to do with it.....

$50 bucks is ridiculous.

I shipped a CAI to someone a few states away and my shipping was under $20 bucks, if I remember I think it was right around $15 bucks like you have quoted.

14x14x10 might be a bit small, I think my box was like around 14x14x12 (close enough I guess )

Anymore than $20-25 MAX for shipping and someone is trying to screw you.

i just sent a stock fuel pump from houston, tx to CA. It cost $16. CAI cant weigh in at a whole lot more than that. maybe an extra 5lbs or so.

I did however find out that the size of the box has a crap load to do with how much it costs to ship this stuff. Also, if he didnt box it up himself, they probably charged him around $9.00 to box it up. Thats what they charged me to box up the Strut tower brace i just mailed off. All those charges incurred, i could see it getting that high. just ask him for the receipt and let him know that you arent paying to box it up and stuff as well.

i sold my KN intake on here about 3 weeks ago and shipping was like 13 bucks. just break it down and put it in a box. you can get quotes on all of the shippers websites at USPS.com, UPS.com, Fedex.com, and DHL.com. Just have to know the dimisions, weight, and zipcodes. normally you can get it a little cheaper if you do it online and print out the shipping lablel on a computer.

Pretty sure I can ship a box full of anvils cheaper than that.
