First Oil Change since Supercharger
Had a supercharger installed about 1000 miles ago and its time for an oil change. i have been normally running 5w20 full synthetic now thinking of switching to 5w30 Mobil 1 full synthetic. would this be a wise choice? also should i go with a oem replacement motor craft filter, Mobil 1 filter, or FRPP filter? Anything else i should do or change?
thanks.
thanks.

5w 30 should be fine...if a car comes in saying 5 20 and it has like over 100k miles ill put in 5 30 so its not really a huge deal...id wait to see what someone else says on here also to back me up
as for the filter i always use motorcraft they recommend it for a reason
if you havent done a cabin air filter in a while id order one of those and also a fuel filter

how hard is the fuel filter to replace?

cool i was just checking cause the dealership was saying with the supercharger they would recommend the FRPP one because its so much better than the regular motorcraft one. i dont mind paying the extra 10 bucks if its really that much better

Quite a few here that have gone FI have stepped up from 5W20 to 5W30. Even a few that aren't FI.
Depending on how long you run between oil changes, the Motorcraft filter will hold up well for about 6,000 - 7,000 miles. Any more than that and I'd go with the M1 or Amsoil. I do 8,000 mile changes in the SUV (tow vehicle) with the M1 filter and 8,000 - 10,000 mile changes in the Stang (depending on how it was driven over that period) with the Amsoil filter (good for 15,000 miles severe duty).
The FRPP filter is overpriced and not up to par with the M1 and Amsoil, IMO.

im not 100%sure with the supercharger so im sure someone will chirp in soon but i always use motorcraft products oil and filters
the fuel filter is easy...
pop the hood and open the fuse box.
pull the fuel pump relay fuse out (check the owners book i think its like 20 or 21)
once thats out crank the car over (it shouldnt start) just to get the last fuel out of it
lift her up and under the drivers side there should be some black plastic shroud.
you might be able so see the filter through it but im not sure
take out the screws for the shroud.
(Be sure to check the positions of the lift or jack stands. i always put the lift foot so its touching the plastic and i regret it b ecause then you have to bend the plastic up- a bit to get it out
oonce you see the filter youll see some green clips on each side of the fuel line i usually just use a screwdriver but dont break them
when the clip is held open with the screw driver pull on the fuel line and it should come off..do the same on the other side
BE CAREFUL fuel will come out of the line and the filter its not much but its enough to get in your eyes ( if your doing it on a lift it will start to run down your arm..stop it before it gets to your arm pit..idk why but gas in the arm pit really burns lol)
check the direction of the filter and pull it out then pop the new one in, push the lines on till they click and give them a little tug to be sure they are on all the way
put the shroud back on then put the fuse back in
cycle the ignition 3 times slowly..dont start her this is just to pump the fuel back in through the filter then start her. it may take a few tries and she should fire up nicley

i do 5000 mile changes cause of how hot it is here. so the motorcraft one is fine for that? that makes it easier for me cause there is only one dealership in san antonio that carries the FRPP one and its out of my way.

I would save my money on these fancy oil filters. I use Wix filters, $4 online. You guys are all nutz using the same oil filter for 10,000 miles.
I'm currently using pennzoil platinum 5w30, but 5w20 will get you better gas mileage and probably good for 5hp. In the future we will all be using 0w10 motor oil to meet the EPA mpg standards.
