Technical Service Bullitin

basically a problem pops up. Ford Engineers do some Pow-Wow stuff...and they come up with a procedure to correct/fix the issue.

Like with the Window roll-down feature. Was intended as a valet function. Ended up causing issues, so the later 2005 and all 2006-2009 cars had it removed. Sucks, because it's a nifty little thing

Oh okay I get it now, thanks for explaining that. But do you see a real major difference between the two model years at all?

nah

colors changed

added a appearance group

but the motor/tranny/axle/brakes...all the important stuff is the same from 2005-2009. just very very slight stuff changes from year to year as vendors changed.

you can take the mechanicals from a 2009 and it will work on a 2005 model. Except the electrical. that is a tricky subject. Ford likes to tweak stuff every year. almost always compatible though with other years.

sorry if it seems like I'm dancing around your question. I could answer a specific interchangeability question easily. But your basic question is too generic for a straight up answer.
I know a few people with 05's, and they have been relatively great cars. With age comes some issues, but that is true of anything.

just be careful what you are buying. look for burned rubber in the fenderwells, check the clutch play, odd sounds/creaks/groans

you know...the basics

I personally would try to grab a 2006 model. newer is almost always better IMO. You get the benefits of the tweaking, and the newer usually have fewer miles.

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin

A bulletin put out by Ford explaining how to fix a known problem area, or saying that the problem is not really a problem, but is "normal."
