Mine is not a DD and with less than 2K driven per year (5.6K on odometer), I only change mine annually... right before winter storage.

8,000 - 10,000 miles on the Stang depending on how hard those miles are. If it's mostly highway with not too many hard runs over 100 MPH then it stays in for 10,000 miles. Amsoil 0W20 and Amsoil Ea filter.

8,000 - 10,000 miles on the SUV (tow vehicle) depending on how much towing is done. M1 5W30 and M1 filter but will be changing over to Amsoil.

Every 6 months regardless of mileage. I've gone as little as 200 miles between oil changes and as much as 2000, but it always gets changed at 6 months.

Whenever it gets dark. About every 4,000 miles or so.

So basically, no one knows! I realized before I posted this the answers would be way different. In 400 more miles I'll be at 7500 or around 9-10 months... I'll change it then and ship off a sample to the lab and see what they say. I think it's like 35 bucks.

I thought you were making a joke about changing it after sundown! LOL!

BLACK oil is not a sign of depleted oil. Far from it.

It crazy that people are brainwashed it to thinking they need to change the oil every 3000 miles.

And going by when the oil gets dark thats just crazy.

Jiffy lube and all the companies that make and sell motor oil are the only ones telling people to change the oil every 3000 miles, for obvious reasons. Most car and engine manufactures recommend around 7,500.

Especially on most of the new vehicles.

7500 is the normal service mileage interval

5000 is the severe service mileage interval

Especially if I was open-tracking the car several times a year, and even if I was just autocrossing/dragracing it most every weekend I doubt that I'd let the oil go even 2000 miles. That sort of treatment is outside factory definitions of "severe service" and should be treated accordingly.

Sometimes it's better to err on the side of being conservative than to push the limits (and possibly your "luck"). Engineers and people who have ever completely spec'ed and built up their own engines from the piles of individual parts tend to feel this way.
