Would 35% be to light? I live in NC and the law says 35% but i want 20%. Im not worried about cops b/c I know people who have 5% and havent gotten pulled but im worried about inspection. Isn't it a automatic fail if you have aftermarket tint under the limit? What would you do?

 

In my opinion 35% is not worth the money. It's so light. I had it on a car years ago and didn't like it from the first day, was just too light. I have 15% now, looks awesome from the outside however, it is a little hard to see out at night times and I often have to drop the windows especially when backing up. I would think 20% would be a good mid point.

 

I've got 26% and am happy with it. At inspection time I just go to Billy Ray Ricky Bobs out in the swamp inspection station. He shoots the bull for a bit before he enters my inspection to the computer, without even looking at it. The half dozen pit bulls he has are a bit scary though. There are all kinds of inspection places here that turn their heads. I found out about many of them through car clubs or meetings.

His policy is that if I get stopped then I claim I installed the tint it after it was inspected.

 

No inspection in Alabama, but there is a tint law. I have 20% with black leather interior and the car looks darker than it is because of the interior.

yea i have heard about those inspections here but cant make up my mind. And i have black interior too so i figured it would look darker than other colored interiors

 

35% is just a tiny bit too light.


but if you get pulled over...you have to scrape it.

at inspection time, you ahve to use a sleezy place to pass



I've had to scrape 2 different sets of tint in the last year. screw that crap. I'm keeping the tint legal this time. 35% is the law here, but they allow as low as 29% because of the testing variances each unit they use to test can have.


I had 15% on the last 2 that were scraped off and they were too dark. had to roll the windows down at night to see out of

 

yea i live in nc and a couple of my buddies have 5% on some rice but iam runnin 20% and i hvae a buddy who owns a shop so he inspects it for me....but my 20% looks bad azzzzzzzzzz lol

 

I have 35% right now and its okay. It is a little light but I would rather be 35% and not have to deal with the problems. If cops were less lenient here then would go with 20% but I think my 35% was worth the money.

 

Don't waste your time or money on 35% ... way to light in my opinion. I like mine Dark @ 2.5%.

 

Well, I don't know what the tint law is in Calif. but here in VA it's 35% and 35% I got. Did I waste my money? ABSOLUETLY NOT! I can tell the difference between tint even if it's only 35% and a non tinted glass. I got it to help cut down on heat and the sun shinning inside the back glass and you know what, IT WORKS!

Here they don't mess around. You'll even get pulled over for tinted license plates!
