The auto is just as good as the manual for mods. I prefer the manual, but with a tune, the auto and manual are pretty close to neck and neck.

Called a dealer in town to chat a bit, and I think I can get a straight-up trade for a GT premium with the track pack plus that gorgeous red interior. Might have to go in for a good, hard look at this :O

Those shops that don't do work on Autos don't do it because theyhave no clue how to properly program the tranny.

Autos these days are way more complicated than what they were 5 or six years ago so not only can you program teh engine for better performance but the auto can be custom tailored for your driving preferences IF the tuner knows what they're doing.
