Engine Swap
I have a 05 V6 and was looking into swapping out the engine for a 5.4L 4v and wanted to put together a list of what I am going to have to switch out and put into my car to get ready for the new motor. I know there is going to be a lot to change and won't be cheap. there are a few reasons why I am not getting rid of my car so don't just say i should do that. If anyone has any input on parts to replace, add, or just any insight would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
Which 5.4 are you looking for? The N/A or the forced version? Either way you will need the engine, transmission, wiring harness, k-frame, exhaust system, rear end(probably not necessary on the N/A motor), and a lot of time.
You are gonna drop 18k into an engine and you wanna keep the V-6 model? Not impossible, but it's gonna be a big pain in the a**. You are pretty much going to have to take everything out from the engine bay, remove the transmission, rest of the drive train, and most of the wiring. You will need a new transmission, 8.8 rear end, and axle. I'm not sure what ECU you would have to use. Also, you will need pretty much an entirely now suspension due to the added weight, and a new break system to stop all of that extra weight.
I would guess the entire swap will cost you at least 30k plus labor bringing it to around maybe 35 k. After you have spent all of this money you might as well just have bought a 500GT.
It is possible, not very cost efective.

I know that's GT->GT500 but I'm pretty sure those guys did a v6->gt500. If not them, I did see that on youtube. But, even if you had a GT, the only thing that would not be replaced is the rear axle. So it's not that much different than doing this to a V6. Either way, you'll need a new suspension to handle the heavier engine and power.
I don't think it would be wise to have a shop do this unless you're into big cash. It's best if you do this yourself, but that assumes you have complete knowledge on building cars (in addition to having your own shop with every tool needed). I'm guessing that's not the case here.

I can do most of the prep work like some of the parts to change out but i prob would have a shop actually drop in the motor cause im not that knowledge able just yet. so would i need to get like GT500 suspension parts and so on?
