Default Bamachips tune question

for anyone who has a bama tune, has anyone adjusted the WOT air/fuel ratio? Either leaned it out a little or made it more rich? Reason being i leaned mine out 2% and seem to have better response and what feels like a little more power. Now that being said, do you think it is safe to do this? i know that being to lean can cause a lot of problems but with the way the tune came when i was at WOT there was alot of black smoke coming from the exhaust, now that it is more lean, there is not aas much. thanks for any help with this.

The only way to know for sure if tinkering is safe or not is to use a wideband gauge:

Other than that, you're kind of playing with fire. It's possible that the tune is running rich for your application, but a little rich is safer than a little lean. Many tuners will leave canned tunes a little rich just for that purpose. Of course, he leaves the user with the ability to make changes for a reason. It just makes sense to have the proper instrumentation if you're going to be playing with those settings.

I made mine 1% more rich at the 4K to 7K rpm range. This bought my A/F from about a 13.2 to 12.7. Hp and tq didn't change that much. Before it was 302RWHP/312.67RWTQ. After it changed to 305RWHP/311.64RWTQ.
