Default Exhaust reversion

So I'm considering going back to my stock mufflers. I am currently running BBK shorties (chrome), Bassani catted X (stainless), and Bassani street mufflers (stainless). It sounds great, but then I started thinking "when do I actually get to enjoy the sound....no one else drives my car". I like the sound of stock mufflers ok, especially when opened up by a high-flow midpipe, so I'm considering mating my Bassani catted X to the stock mufflers.

Anyone heard this setup? Got a clip?

I'm tired of drone, and the car is really loud right now.
I'm also considering going back to stock H-pipe with my Bassani mufflers. I want some noise reduction. However, for those of you with Bassani midpipes, it is not an easy job to remove the Bassani pipe.

Opinions?

I had considered headers for my car, but after hearing some different setups in person I determined the sound was just too loud.

My headers made the car a little quieter I think.

I doubt you're going to find anyone who's done the bassani mid along with the stock mufflers as that's just not something most people would do. I say considering the relative ease of swapping mufflers you should just try that first and see what you think of it. If that sound doesn't do it for you, then you can go the more difficult route of swapping the stock H back in with the Bassani mufflers.

Well, I did the muffler swap today, and I'm very pleased.

The stock mufflers are quiet, of course, but the Bassani catted X increases the volume enough to give it a nice sound without being raw. The decrease in vibration and drone was extremely welcome. The car sounds really good at idle, and still screams when I get on it.

I'm selling my Bassani mufflers.

I wish I'd known several exhaust setups ago what I know now....it just takes a midpipe and header upgrade to make the S197 sound good.

I wonder what your current setup with GTAs would sound like... it would be a bit louder but nothing obnoxious. I've been very happy with mine because they don't drone one bit. That's a lot more than can be said about my '85 GT with 2 chamber flows... ;-)
