Default State Inspection time...

I decided to take my car in for it's first inspection. So based on past conversations on here I left my CAI and tune installed. It failed which really wasn't a big suprise considering some shops might be a little bit more understanding than others. I left the shop, had some lunch, tuned it back to stock for about 15 or 20 miles. and went back (Unfortunately the 15 or 20 miles was not at a steady 55 or 60 miles an hour like he suggested). Their diag tool decided to fail one additional item (a total of 4). I put the cai tune back on, drove it home.

During the 20 mile cruise, I did notice the engine doing some irregular revving, especially when I pulled back into their parking lot.

So at this time, I've put the stock cai back on, put the stock tune back on, and will leave it like that for a couple days as the shop suggested, then bring it back. Hopefully it passes. I would expect it to.

The items that originally failed were the Catalyst, 02 Sensor, and 02 Sensor Htr

Both my truck and car passed here in PA. Guess it's hit n miss.

Here's a link for how to complete a drive cycle:

Those are the regular fails here in TX. Exhaust issues. You could have just installed some brenspeed rear o2 raiser/non foulers and kept your performance tune (or one that keeps the rear o2's on). The rear o2's would have come ready long enough to get stickered (about 24 hours of on-off driving).

It has nothing to do with "understanding". Those monkeys don't care, its the computer you have to fool.

you don't have an off-road pipe do you? if you do, it will NEVER pass. The sensor ready indicators are timed, that why just driving 20 miles and going back didn't help. you have to wait 12 hours. you can only fail 2 here in TX.

So I put the stock tune back on, put the original filter back in, drove it a couple days and took it back, It passed. So as of right now, I don't plan on getting rid of the original equipment.

My car wouldn't pass emissions because of a custom tune, I had to put mine back to stock and drove it about 100 miles and it passed fine.
