So it has finally reached that point where the cars here are dewing up, then freezing overnight. Anyway, the other day I decided to take the pony up to work and when I got off at 5am, my car was frozen. When I pulled my door handle, the window tried to go down the 1/2" or whatever but it didn't budge and made a decent popping noise cause it was frozen. I'm worried that this is really going to break something, either the track or something else. And, since it didn't move, when I closed the door, the window was overlapping the weather strip near the top rear corner. Once the car warmed up, I rolled it down/up and everything lined up OK and straight.

So my question is, what should I do? Is there a way to disable that feature? But then I have the weatherstrip issue. Grrr.... Any advise from seasoned pony owners is greatly appreciated!!!1!1!!

 

If its an auto get a Ford remote starter.
This is the best mod I've done to my car.
Just leave the defroster on full blast the night before and no trouble
after warming up 8 or 9 minutes.

 

Got a manual. I can't believe that no one else can chime in........ Does no one drive their car in the winter?

 

I too am very interested in some responses here. Have to drive my car during the winter unfortunately as my DD and I've experienced this on a few cold mornings as well...

 

Nope....sits in a nice comfy garage all winter.

I'm pretty sure they make remote starters for manuals as well as autos but I think you have to be more careful when using one on a manual transmission.

 

Um, service your weatherstrips like ford recommends in the owners manual...
I cant believe no one else reads the owners manual or does the routine maintience...

You cant and wont break anything.
Its all clutched and the like.
Leave the windows cracked and problem solved.
Or read the owners manual (again) and pull the power
window fuse and be done with it.
Or a heated garage.

And remote start on a manual is very possible and
has been done... Safety factors and all...
Just a simple proximity switch to verify that its in neutral.

 

You need to put a little bit of silicone "lube" on the window seals. This will keep the windows from sticking to the seal. It is a common ocurrence on the trunk seal to trunk lid as well for the 05-09 cars.

 

if it isnt raining / snowing leave the driver side down 1/4" and you are good to go

i have remort start with a manual and it was never a problem for me

If I pulled the fuse, my window would get caught on the overhang of the weatherstrip. I had already contemplated doing that. Leaving the window down a little bit I guess could be an option but I'd rather not. Looks like remote start it is!! I don't ever leave the car in gear when parked so I'm sure I can find a way around the clutch safety switch. But I'll probably just leave it at home in the garage from now on too. Only take it out 1-2 times a month anyhow. Thanks for the heads up.
