How do I go about finding my car's build date and where it was built? Are all Mustangs built in Michigan?

 

Check your Owners Manual. I believe what you're looking for is on the label on the drivers door jamb. There's a date of manufacture and a code for the assembly plant.

It's two numbers that stand alone. Mine says... 08/04, so the only decoding going on is Aug 2004.

 

Cool. Now if only I can find out where my Pony was born...if it's Mexico I'll cry.

Any Ford dealer should be able to tell you the exact date of assembly (not just month and year) if you provide them with the VIN.

 

Request a build sheet from the following email address and include the contact info as shown below. They will contact you via email and request additional information. They will in-turn send you a letter with a breakdown of the VIN, actual date built to include month/day/year, and list the options your vehicle was built with.
