I'm no mechanic, but the new 2011 V6 has a six speed tranny. Seems like you would be spending more to swap than just to buy a new car. By then, you could pick up a used 2010 GT with 310 hp to start.
It is tempting to me, but I'm still trying to get used to those darn taillights!

Considering it's a DOHC with independently variable intake and exhaust timing, and probably a whole host of other technology that your 25 year old mill doesn't have, and how integrated all the electronics systems on these cars are, I'd personally be VERY surprised if you didn't need most of the wiring from a 2011 to make it work. Add to it that it's getting two totally new transmissions, you might not even be able to bolt it up to the tranny in your car, and if that's the case, it could well require a new drives haft as well.

It's a completely different motor. The fact that they both have the same number of cylinders isn't enough to make this an easy swap.

It'll be costly since you'll be the first on the block to do it... no reference point.
I can see for sure, some V6 swaps on the 05/10 in the near future.

To bad it's not turbo. Glad to see such a nice motor in the V6. I really like the 30MPG. All in all seems like the V6 and V8 will be kicking some serious Chevy a$$!!

I'm really excited to see the new 3.7 hit the streets. I'm left wondering what they have in mind for the GT model. Another thing I'm wondering is if Ford is "downplaying" the numbers. Meaning if the V6 is more powerful than they're letting on? Hmmmmm

This is the first time I have ever been impressed and sort of excited about a V6. This sounds like a nice engine.

Of course, I'm much more interested in the new V8. I hope FRPP makes some Hot Rod cams for it! LOL!
