most of the time the manuals are written with the part on the bench.... You know when Ford puts the transmission in, there is no front on the car and the transmission just slides in from the front attached to the motor. They dont give much thought to it actualy on the car, unless it is painfully obvious from the engineering drawings that there will be a issue.

^ close to right. The motor, tranny, exhaust, k-member w/front suspension and rear end are installed all at one time from underneath, not from the front. This is called "The Marriage" on the assembly line.

I would have packed it up and left.
Having to show techs how to do their job is a BIG OL RED FLAG
as to they dont know their **** from a hole in the wall.
Dont expect the job to be done right after that fiasco.
Manuals are for morons that cant do a simple tranny removal.
Real mechanics use the manual for reference only and know
how to properly disassemble vehicles for repairs.

so just got back from the dealer....
After Ford had sent them three of the wrong puller, they ended up getting the thinest longest one they could get from Napa or like wise shop, then filed down the arms to be thin enough to reach into where they needed it. Then apparently when they were putting it back together last night, they didn't have a bearing right and it gets locked down externally. They didn't feel it was setting right while tightening it, so they pulled it out, sure enough it had shifted and set wrong, destroyed the bearing and needs to be replaced... According to them, the new one will be in on Monday and I should have my car back Monday or Tuesday. Although at this point I am not holding my breath.
