Default I Need Brake Pad Revcomendations

I have an '[07 GT/CS with about 45k and it seems to be time to replace the original brake pads. Everything in the brake system is stock but I need to know what you guys would suggest for replacement pads. Right now I do not have the cash to put on BIG brakes with slotted rotors & new calipers so I just want something that has great stopping power and no brake dust! Any suggestions as always will be appreciated.

Thanks

I've yet to replace brake pads on my Stang yet after 33,000 miles and they're almost like new but about 95% of those 33,000 miles were highway. Matter of fact, in a little over 1,000,000 miles of driving and about 6 cars or more, I had one that needed brakes by 60,000 miles. And that was the ex-wife's "kids transport". The majority of my cars average about 110,000 miles on brake pads. But I (used to) do a small percentage of city driving.

But back to your question... I've heard a lot of good things about the Hawk HPS and HP+ pads. They're inexpensive and are said to be a (vast?) improvement over the stock pads. Try searching in the S197 Handling Forum. This has been discussed there numerous times with input from those more knowledgable than I on the subject.

When I had to replace the rear pads (fronts still look great after 60K miles), I stayed with the Ford pads. I have no problem with them.

stock pads arent that bad. mine cracked and i went with wagner thermoquiet after hearing a few recommendations on a few boards. yes they are silent and no dust but they dont stop that well. they feel weaker than a stock pad.

unless you drive like a grandma or dislike getting your wheels dirty, steer clear and go with hawk. i had those on my truck and the extra power is damn well worth wiping your wheels once a week

The Ford Factory ones (ones installed at the Factory) or Motorcraft pads? There is a difference. The Motorcraft are cost less. but the factory ones are better.

As for autozone pads. NEVER!!!!!!

Get the Ford Factory or Hawks HPS pads.

I agree, there are a couple of pad sets sold by Ford. I got the pads that were installed by the factory, along with a pair of Centric rotors (rear only). Couldn't be happier.
