Why are blowers such a ripoff?

Seems like a serious rape in the butt to me. So what gives?
The terminator already comes from the factory with everything needed to run the blower (intercooler, intake manifold, heat exchanger, intercooler pump, all piping and hardware).

The S197 since it's naturally aspirated doesn't come with any of that stuff. So if you want to run a blower you'll not only need the blower but all the stuff that the S197 doesn't have that the terminator does. Then add the price of the GT500 pump kit, injectors and tuning into it and that's why it costs more.

the high cost is due to plan and simple: supply and demand
plus, you have to pay to play.......

Well it's fair to say that you're not the only one with regrets. I like my car but if I had things to do over I would've got a lightly used terminator or C5 Z06. These cars aren't cheap to mod at all and I probably could've ended up with a faster car for cheaper if I'd bought one of those instead.

Live and learn I guess.

You can get a 2.9L Whipple for an 07-09 GT500 for $3500 as well. It's not because the cars are older. It's because the kit was easier to create. The GT500's and 03/04 cobras already have a supercharged platform. So basically it's just an upgrade. It's like finally cleaning a filthy car. It's easier to maintain a clean car than to clean up a dirty one.

It's debatable whether or not the extra parts in their sum justify the whole of the extra cost.

Regardless, the point is taken.

It also has to do with the name brand you are buying... "Whipple" or an "Edlebrock" is gonna cost more then a "Big Gus's Roots Blower 5000 kit" made by Dong Won Chong & co. from Indonesia lol.

i found an 07 frpp h.o. 550 h.p. polished supercharger brand new on ebay last week for a buy it now price of $5000. so i bought it. there was no listing of it in the supercharger section of 2005+ mustang parts. i googled 2005+ mustang whipple superchargers and found it there but it had a ebay item #. so i went to ebay and found it.

Yeah man I'm with ya. I like my car don't get me wrong, but if I had a second chance I'd have gone a different route. I took it out today and mashed the gas for the first time in probably 4+ months. I forgot how quick the bastard is. Lit the tires up and started going sideways from a 10mph roll, lol.

Another secret, the list price is NOT what most people pay. It's just the lowest price Whipple allows their kit to be advertised for. You don't have to be a private investigator to find performance shops that sell the Whipple for significantly lower than what they list it for...

I'll tell you this much, I didn't pay anywhere close to list price for my Whipple H.O.
