Traction Control?
The scariest ride I had was watching the trailer of the 18 wheeler I was in swing around and try to catch up to me in the tractor. Thank God the trailer hit dry ground and straighten out before I jack knifed. I spun out in 1 of the fwd cars and 2 of the rwd cars I owned, 2 were on icy roads and the other 1 was on a freshly rained on road.
Also tc is a tool. Like any tool when used properly it will work. I used tc to help me learn how to launch my car off the line. At the track I kept tc on until I learned how to launch without spinning my tires. I still spin but at least I got my 60’ down from 2.5 to 2.0 on stock tires. It’s been about a year since I was at the track so I don’t know what I will do now. P.S I am from Philly, PA.

Hmmm, interesting about the TC. I'll have to play around with it somewhere.
I felt the same way when I lost control and wiped out, especially when there was nothing apparent on the road. Instead of laughing, everyone just gawked and had the same thought.

I'm kinda nervous about having little to no snow thus far this season, because that means BAM! we'll get walloped by a major blizzard out of nowhere and I'll have no experience snow driving in RWD, and everyone else will have forgotton how to drive in the snow too...the first accumulating snowfall is always the worst!
I am very curious as to how the TC works in the new car, My first v8 stang was an 91 ish and had no traction control or the like but I got around just fine and really lovved the feel of driving it. We get lots of snow where im from.
My work vehicles have always been RWD 4by4 trucks and thats what I have the most experience in,
and this year is the first to have TC. I really like it for the truck driving on really slick gravel roads and snow (in 4by) but am wondering from reading this thread if when my 2010 stang comes in maybe I'd be better of leaving the TC off most the time since I plan on playing in the good weather and avoiding driving in the bad.

I would think tires are the biggest factor but like most said there isn't much help with ice. Something I've noticed though is wider tires aren't always better in some situations. I run 33x12.50 all terrains on my pickup and it is much more likely to hydroplane than my Mustang. The Mustang actually handles rainy weather better than my 4x4. Also the crappy roads here want to grab wider tires and pull your vehicle all over the place.
Traction control will not help in the snow, unless you need help accelerating. Mustangs suck in the snow. My Shelby manuel says not to even drive in the snow; it's parked for the winter. If you insist on driving in the snow with the Stang then get yourself some good snow tires and drive slow!

Who cares about traction control, you just need to know how to drive a RWD.

I decided to see how it was on straight line traction and it was actually pretty good.
I had snow tires on a snow packed road, and from a roll in 2nd gear I just floored it. The car accelerated pretty darn good in a straight line with minimal wheel spin. I think I could have beat a 4x4 car in the 1/4 lol.
