I can't hook

I can't hook
After installing a tune my car doesn't really hook in 1st anymore. Even if I slowly roll into the throttle, once I get to WOT, I still spin. I still have the 3.31 gear and everything else is pretty much stock. I have the 17 inch bullitts with the Pzeros, 235's. Is it possible to hook well on the stock rims with a 235 tire? If not, how wide of a tire can I go with on the stock rim? Any cheap tire suggestions?

I had the same issue with my stock BFG's after my CAI & tune. I went with a set of 275 Goodyear Eagle's. Problem solved. BUT, if I add any more power I'll definitely need some suspension mods.

If so, MUY BUENO.
My car is all over the place. I can't get traction in first and with second gear I have to make sure the car is perfectly straight with no other loads on the suspension. I think I'm below sea level here in Houston.

I'm thinking ther 4600+ foot DA we run in up here is easily robbing the car of a good 25whp. Maybe even more. It sucks but it's all relative I suppose.
I can still spin if I dump the clutch. Also, some of it depends on the pavement. I've been able to spin before but it depends on what stretch of road I'm on.

Width will not help much. The only thing that will work is drag radials. I ran the M&H racemaster 275/50 17 on stock rims and they work real well. They are about 200 bucks each and work real well on the street also. Very soft though and depending how you use them, they are only goog for 12,000 miles or so. Dont waste your money on another street tire if traction is what you need.

Width does help but I agree the compound is more important overall. A narrow drag radial will probably hook better than a wide summer tire.
A 275 will fit the stock 17x8 but just keep in mind that it isn't approved for that size rim and it does bow out quite a bit.
