My Uncle had a C6Z06 for a while and wow it was a hell of a car. I know the C5Z06 is on a much different level than the C6. If I had the chance I would most likely keep my 2010 mustang, even though its cheaper insurance for a corvette for me. I love both of the cars but hey it all depends on what you want out of it. If it's a daily driver keep the mustang. If it's a garage queen, then drive the corvette and which one could you see your self driving every time you want to feel the power... It would be a very hard choice for me and ultimately would come down to which interior I liked better, I'm an interior guy.

I had a few c6 with the mag. suspension seam to be a big problem and very costly to fix, what's the old saying if you play you pay in a Vette it.s pay and pay some more. IMO. A friend of mine has an 08 and I think the dealer has it more than him. Seam to me they still have reliability problems.

Damn, that sucks.
I was hoping those new ones were finally reliable because they sure deliver when they work.

I just had to reply to this thread. Lots of missinformed and ignorant responses here. The C5Z is still an amazing sports car that is HIGHLY reliable thank you very much. The C5 Z06 has reached legendary stauts on tracks all over the world, spanking some world class exotics costing 2 to 3 times as much! With looks that still turn heads from most people. My car is a last gen Corvette and 7 years old, though usually whenever I take it out for a ride I get tons of rubbernecks and stares, that it sorta embarrasses me sometimes. Dont see nay kinds of mustangs getting street stares up here, and we have lots of them, especially Shelbys and cobras form 2000 up to 2010. Yawn.. I have owned my 2003 Z06 for 2 years now. I havent had a single issue with it that would require my to take it to a mechanic. The interior on my Z06 is still better than any mustang, any year thanks. Yes the seats dont hold you tight but the comfort is awesome. People that make comments about Corvettes and Corvette owners ( DB's) dont really have a clue and are drawing on stereotypes from the 1980's and 90's. You wanna know about Mustang owner stereotypes? Guys in their 30's to 50's with the silky Mustang jackets and Ford baseball caps that live with their parents and spend time building mustang models at home when they're not attending Mustang club meetings on wed nights! Nice picture eh? Thats what Corvette owners think. Anyway You just cant compare a Mustang or a new Camaro or Challenger for that matter to any Late Model Corvette. They are just different cars with different built purposes. The C5 Z's have soo much performance potential. Just a medium sized H/C with good traction and launch and ur running mid to low 11's all day. Just a 6 psi Centri SC kit can take you to mid 10's with nothing else done. In stock factory form..180 mph, low 12 sec. 1/4 mile, with 1 G cornering on good rubber. The LS6 motors are virtually bulletproof. No I wouldnt trade for ANY car with high mileage like that, but find one with under 30K and you'll be hooked for life! trust me.

I have been on 2 of the major Corvette forums for 6 or 7 years now, and I'll tell you about dozens upon dozens of ex Mustang, Camaro,Firebird owners who traded UP to a used or new C5 Z and NEVER looked back! Its just a totally different car and feel. Corvette are compared with Vipers.. Mustangs with Camaro's. Thats the way it will always be, PERIOD. The Z06 is a purpose built sports car. Id rather have a stock Z06 than a heavily modded Mustang of any year or model. Oh and there are a lot of guys in their late 20's, 30's etc that have very good jobs with great taste and own, drive and race Z06's in my city. Most fo these people are nice, fun guys to hang and cruise with! Z06 ownership is not a luxury, its a lifestyle which I'm damn proud to be part of. Americas most iconic sports car ! Cheers guys! BUY AMERICAN MUSCLE WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE! JMHO

REDZED9, I traded alright. From an eighty thousand dollar Z06 that was PLUMMETING in value to a 20k Mustang and I couldn't be happier. Thank you for posting. You proved my point exactly. Vette owners are douche bags and I'll never own another one!
