Default TPMS Necessary?

What would happen if you put on new tires and wheels and did NOT include any TPMS bands on the wheels? Would the system just beep once upon start up or would it continue to beep at me while driving?

I believe it only beeps at start up, but the TPMS light will be on your dash cluster as well. And, pending on the state, they may not let you pass your inspection with that light on.

I'm not running any bands in my wheels. I'm old school and like to use a tire pressure gauge. When it does beep (no real pattern when it does) I just hit the reset button. No big deal just another Gov annoyonce in my life.

I left the bands out of my '07 for a while. It was annoying and in the end, I just had the damn sensors put in one day. For the new wheels on this 09, I just bought the TPMS kit from American Muscle, and had Discount Tire mount the sensors. I programmed them myself at home using the provided tool in 2 minutes. The kits only $150. http://www.americanmuscle.com/tpms-fullkit.html

i did not have them in my wheels for a year but then i was told it was illegal to not have them in the wheels so i decided to install them cause if i were in some kind of accident i didnt want the insurance company to use that as an excuse to not pay a claim. we all know how they can be!!!

You'll get a warning message upon start up. As soon as you hit the reset button, the warning message goes away, but the "low tire icon" light on the dash will always stay on.

Yeah I agree they are a nice safety feature. I check my tires regularly with a gauge as well, but the bottom line is you never know when you'll run over a nail and start losing pressure gradually during a drive. I don't check the pressure manually every 5 minutes, so the tpms is a nice thing to have just in the case.
