Spectre Air Filters?

Spectre Air Filters?
Hey guys, the filter on my K&N Intake has become warped and now no longer fits on the tube correctly. I've returned the car to stock until I can get a new air filter. So now after a trip to my local auto shops I'm wondering: Should I replace it with the approx. $55 K&N or can I get away with paying less than half as much for the Spectre air filter? Am I just paying for the name here, or is the K&N really that much better? Thanks guys

I'd be more concerned about it's filtering ability over price. Google it and see. Another option is an Amsoil replacement which is not cheap but it IS quality.
An air filter by itself, unless very restrictive, is not the critical component of a CAI & tune combo. The filter is only ~20% of the power adder of the combo.

S&B makes great filters, you can order any size made to fit. its the same filter as on the whipple.

Cool guys, thanks for the input. I might actually go with the Amsoil since I have a friend who's a vendor, we'll see what price he gives me. I'll check into S&B too and maybe the Spectre if need be.

I replaced the K&N filter on my K&N Aircharger CAI with a filter from AMSOIL. Filtering is much better and no oil to mess with or to get on your mass airflow sensor. Clean every 25K miles and replace after 100K miles. It was a no brainer for me.

^ha yeah, I want to get a blue one this time. It'll look good with the Tungsten Grey especially since I may have some dark blue accenting coming in the near future
haha now we're getting to the real issue at hand

I was a good bit concerned when it came time to clean and re-oil the filter on my Steeda CAI, especially since I had previous issues with over oiling an Amsoil drop-in filter on one of my SUV's. In that case, I could never keep from contaminating the MAF no matter how much I tried to not overoil the filter and to blot out as much as I could. However, re-oiling the Steeda went well and I feel a lot more comfortable doing it. Since I have the recharging kit, I'll continue reoiling it when needed. But had I not bought the kit, I'd have replaced the filter with a dry one.
