Default Help! Engine Stuttering

I have a 2005 Saleen S281 (non-SC). In the mornings when I first crank it up and get on the road, especially when it's cold, it stutters very badly. It will have power for a couple of seconds then loose power for a half second and cycle through this for about a minute or so until the car is warmed up. This creates a very jerky feel as though I was rapidly cycling the throttle.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I haven't done any aftermarket work to the vehicle besides appearance modifications. It's tuned by Saleen to run 91 octane, and I run 93 due to the lack of 91 octane in this area.

I'm thinking this can be either from a dirty throttle body or my TPS is going out. Anyone have any ideas?

I would definitely start by cleaning your Throttle Body because it will only cost you a can of Throttle Body cleaner and is very easy to do.

In case you don't already know, don't buy regular old carb cleaner. Make sure it specifies itself as a Throttle Body cleaner. My car was doing something similar and when I cleaned the Throttle Body it stopped completely.

check the obvious things. spark plugs, ignition coils and give it a tune up. do other maintenance on it, coolant flush, replace the fuel filter, i don't know where the PCV valve is on a saleen but check that, etc. let us know what you find

+1 to everything previously mentioned.

also keep in mind that when you first start
a cold engine, the 02 sensors are not used
to maintain the air/fuel ratio. if you are
heading down the road before the 02 sensors
are operating, this may account for some
of the symptoms you describe.
