Question Water Pump Questions

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but is there a TSB on faulty water pumps for the 2008 V6? Have others experienced a bad or noisy water pump? I only have 25K miles on the car.

I'm asking because one of my friends claims he hears a little bit of "water pump whine" from my engine. I haven't been able to hear anything...haven't seen any symptoms of a bad water pump--no overheating, etc.

However, today I started the car to warm it up (in the 20's for highs) and as I bent near the front passenger-side wheel to clear away a chunk of ice, I heard a slight growling noise from that area of the engine. It wasn't loud at all, I practically had my head inside the wheel well. Maybe it was simply due to the engine being cold, I dunno. Could this be what he was talking about?

If the dummy gauges are fine and the car runs right and doesn't overheat even in 20 degree weather then tell your friend that it is fine and dont worry....if you are worried then take a trip to the dealer...you should be under warranty...our cars are noisy...

No TSB's on waterpumps that I can recall.

my car makes a whine when i start it on really cold mornings. it almost sounds like a super charger and the pitch goes up and down with the engine RPM. once my engine get close to normal operating temp. the whine goes away. does yours go away or is it constant?

Getting dealers to fix a whine or noise under warranty can be hit-or-miss, if they'll even do it (depending on the noise and how loud I suppose).
Still being under warranty, take it in.

If you want another water pump, I'll see mine in a couple of weeks

Haven't noticed a whine that goes up and down...on very cold days when the car has been sitting for a long time it initially makes a very brief squeak or squeal, then settles close to 1200 RPMs. It revs kinda high until the engine warms up. Prolly has something to do with the O2 sensors being cold. And we've been having COLD days and nights here...temps in the single digits tonight.

Guess I'll just chalk up the little noises to cold temps...it even affects my muffler tone...almost sounds like a GT takeoff, lol!

I'll just tell him to clean the French fries out of his ears.
