We have track days every month at No Problem Raceway in LA. They are great. No competition, just go out drive and have a good time. My suggestions are to take it easy the first time on the track and if you don't know anything about road racing, ask someone the basics. You need to know about staying on line, braking, steering, and if you want to get more complicated you can learn to heel/toe properly.

The basics are, only brake in a straight line, never brake in a corner (during turning), don't get on the gas till you are straight (especially in higher HP cars like V8's) and overall don't push it too hard. No one likes a wrecked car the first day out on the track.

Well, after a long email exchage with Rusty @ TWS, they will not let me run there without going through their driving school ($295)...Seems like a no win situation...Don't want to go to the streets, but where to go?

Go to the driving school. $300 isn't a lot considering they let you on the track after you have completed it. Not to mention you will most likely learn some things that will help you on the track.

I'd love to, but the $$ and time (2 full days) for a weekend are more than I have (mostly time), plus, they won't let me drive my car...all track time is Miata (spellingis most likely wrong)...An oval tarck, with written consent (if i mash myself or car, track/employees, ect are in no way liable/responsible) should not be this hard to find, or so I thought...

I hate the monotony of the oval... Although it takes skill I am sure It is not something that appeals to me. Unless they start drifting...
