Default 07 issues?

My GF is looking at buying a stock 07 GT premium W/ 11,000 miles. Is there any issues I should look out for?

Water leakage in the passenger footwell, resulting in mildew and short circuits on some cars. Look at TSB's for 07's and you will see a lot of possible issues. Make sure you know the build date and look for TSB's that occurred after that date.

I believe there is a recall for the airbag on the 2007 that I had to have done. Other than that I have had no issues with mine.

I'll have to go by the dealer and check to see if the recall has been done. The car was built in June of 2006.

When you test drive the car see if it has the front end chuckle when going over small bumps. In other words, see if the front end sounds loose. If so, have them do the TSB and replace the front strut mounts with new "Black Stud" ones.

The TSB's in the stickies covers the S197 from inception so only a small percentage will apply to the '07. Off the top of my head, here are the items I can think of (sorry, too early to try to tie them to the TSB's):
  • water leak issue - passenger side kick panel. The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is located in this area and corrosion from the leak can cause a lot of problems. Fortunately, many '07's didn't suffer from this like '05 and '06s.
  • fuel pump - car will hesitate/stumble on acceleration immediately following a sustained cruise.
  • front end clunk - typically ove bumps and during turns
  • dead battery - Shaker radios will continue to draw power if the system is left on when the ignition is turned off. Compounded by a marginal OE battery
  • Tranny separator plate rattle - this is one of a few annoying undercarriage noises
  • 2 piece spark plug removal - plugs can break during removal. I'm not sure but I think the build date puts it in that category. If she's buying from a dealer I'd have them put 1-piece plugs in.
Those are the one's that come to mind. There is also the Restraint Control Module (RCM) recall mentioned earlier.

I have an 07 with 10k miles and haven't had any problems at all. It should be pretty sound, just take care of the TSBs. Just out of curiosity, what is she paying for the car? I'm thinking of selling mine in preparation for the 2011. Thanks!

Of all the things listed, THAT one is the biggest PITA IMO. And there's a TSB for that, too, but most of the time the dealer fix doesn't solve the problem. Fortunately, there are work arounds.
