Default Stereo question?

Just got my car so still learning all the little buttons and what not. Was shifting through all the stereo options and I didn't understand what speedvolume was? Or volumespeed, can't remember on hand. It had "off" and numbers 1-7 but I didn't see a difference...any insight on this? I have the shaker 1000 if it matters...

Also, anyone have problems with the subs causing interior panels to come loose and vibrate? I had an early SN95 before and ALL the interior creaked and rattled, so I'm nervous about this. The dealer had the bass cranked all the way up which made it reverberate and shake stuff. I turned the bass down to 3 notchs past the mid mark, which still makes it hit nicely without shaking...

I have the shaker 500 system so im not sure about stuff shaking .. but the speed volume is 1-7 as you said. The higher the number and faster you go the louder it gets. So if you have the volume on low and are driving 25 and then get on the freeway you dont have to turn up the volume it automatically does it. And when you slow down it goes back to normal. Hope this helps ya out

Gotcha, I understand. I was parked when I cycled through the numbers, so that explains why I couldn't tell the difference between them.

I'm thoroughly pleased with the shaker 1000 by the way, beyond my expectations, glad I got it! Even if you got something aftermarket that was just as good, I think having it all factory looks twice as slick!

The Shaker systems have been referred to as "Skipper" 500's or 1000's but I haven't had too many issues with my Shaker 500. But then, I don't listen to CD's often since I have Sirius. FYI, the 2005 and 2006 systems don't have an aux input. They began adding them inside the center console beginning 2007.

So far I've only been listening to the radio so I haven't experienced any skipping yet, still need to experiment with that . There's a guy where I work that has an 06 w/ a 500 and he said that if you replace the factory head unit with a decent aftermarket, it will greatly improve the quality. Maybe he was referring to the "skipping issue" aswell..

This is a bit off topic..but does anybody know if you can change the head unit and still use the factory sirius radio and amps? If not the factory sirius radio at least use the antenna thats mounted on the trunk?

I barely listen to the radio and all I have are my cd's in MP3 format. I've had no issues whatsoever. The no aux input kinda sucks, I'm getting a bit of jealousy but then it's a pain in the *** to work a MP3 player while driving..

The speed volume is a blast, it's great when you're busy stepping on the gas and you don't have to manually adjust the volume

My g/f's '06 suffers from "aux input envy"...

But I DID pick up a Shaker 500 from an '08 and will be wiring an aux jack to the proper pins on the existing plug on her car this spring.
