Default Snow Performance

has anyone used snow peroformance or is currently using it right now. I dont know if it is worth getting. Is there any long term effects on using it? just want to see what everyone else thinks of it?

I don't have any first hand experience with their products, but I've seen a lot of possitive testamonial and the only negative has been related more to the tune than the product. I live about 45 minutes from their shop. I've spoken with them a couple of times regarding a meth setup for my other vehicle, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. They are friendly and knowledgable, but be warned that if you contact them directly, they WILL try to sell you their most expensive setup.

Worth getting? Depends on your setup. Are you running high compression, high boost, or boost with no intercooler? If you answered yes to any of these, meth injection can be a worthwhile expense. N/A with stock compression, you won't see much bennefit....I guess it's cheaper than race fuel, so technically, you could drive around all the time with a high octane race tune.

Long term effects? You will have the cleanest heads, valves, and pistons around as long as it is setup properly. Detonation will be a thing of the past with a proper tune. Fuel consumption may improve slightly.

Problems? If the system runs out of juice or fails any reason, you run the risk of severe engine damage unless you are using it on top of an already safe tune (sort of defeats the purpose, IMO). If you are spraying too much, you run the risk of melting your cats, washing the cylinder walls, or hydrolocking the engine.

Some tuners love meth injection because it allows them to get the most advanced timing. Some recommend against it because it doesn't give you much of a safety net if it fails. If you think you want to go down this road, find a tuner experienced with meth injection and get him to write you a tune with and a tune without so that you have a fall back just in case something does go wrong.

FWIW, it may take some time, but a properly tuned H2O/meth injection setup can pay for itself [in theory] at the pump if you use it in conjunction with lower octane fuel rather than always purchasing the highest octane available. I'm not advocating this, but it is a good theory.

If I was to put together a meth/h2o injection system for the Mustang, this is how I would do it:
You can get it all in one place from Summit Racing
sum-290180 - fluid level sending unit - $79.95
40014 - Snow Performance 2.5 gal reservoir - $60.00
6113 - Autometer Cobalt fluid level gauge - $60.95
20011 - Snow Performance Stage 2 MAF Boost Cooler - $485.95

I want a gauge to tell me when I need to fill the reservoir, and not just a warning light for when it's empty or nearly empty. I would probably also purchase a throttle body spacer and modify it to mount the injector(s) behind the throttle body rather than in the intake tube. I haven't looked closely at the intake manifold to see if there is a better place to tap a hole for a meth injector.

I wish I already had experience with mine, however I disconnected it because I wanted to dyno-tune my Roush without it as a baseline. This year, I'm planning to connect it and see how much it helps... here are a couple of links that may help you:

I'll be sure to post something on meth-injection during this Summer...

I have used their product on my big turbo SRT-4. It allowed me to run more boost and lowered IAT and produced 35 more whp. If it is properly set up it is great, keeps your cylinder clean, keeps you from knocking, lowers combustion temps and intake air temps.

I had a snow 20011 on for awhile when I didn't have an intercooler. It was about $400 from forum sponsor www.lethalperformance.com and shipped direct from snow.

I used the windshield washer reservoir for my tank. I also used blue -20 ww fluid for meth (it's 33% meth and 67% distilled water, a little over a buck a gallon at wal-mart)

The system always worked. Using it without adding timing resulted in a 23 hp loss. I wasn't confident enough in it to tune for it. My original intent was for cooling and octane insurance. It will cool but only after it cools the supercharger and only when it's spraying. This means no additional cooling benefit during normal driving.

I monitor intake temps after the blower and can tell you intercooled is head and shoulders above meth for forced induction.
