Default Transmission?

Has anyone removed or just unbolted their transmission?

What would be involved in unbolting it from the rear of the engine and sliding it back slightly to take out that stupid separator plate that is buzzing, grinding, vibrating me to death?

Subscribing! I can't help (sorry), but I think I'm going to look into doing this as well, if it's not toooo hard. Dealership "can't hear it", and warranty just expired.

I had my car on the lift at a tire shop a few months back and the tire tech and I just put 1 thin metal washer between the two bolts we could see and it fixed my buzzing. Which was horrible by the way. Your basically just shimming the plate out away from the flywheel. You could do it in your drive way in less than half a beer.

DWM? Drinking while modding? hmmmm we need to set a "legal" limit so we don’t hurt ourselves, others and more importantly our cars.

I've tried several solutions.

Tried metal washers, rubber washers, a rubber hose jammed between plate and oil pan, had plate replaced per TSB, ...nothing has worked. When the car is cold (not warm), it rattles.

I'm positive it's not contacting the flywheel. I think it's vibrating against the bell housing. The only thing I haven't tried, short of removing the plate completely, is squirting a generous portion of silicone glue around the bell housing between it and the plate.

I'm sick of it!!! It greatly hurts my enjoyment of driving.

Wow that really sucks. I'm so glad mine worked the first time. I work downtown STL and it was so embarrassing having that rattle echoing off all the buildings when I'm driving to/from work. Everyone can hear it.
