Default Clicking Noise... HELP!!!

So I left my car idleing the other day. I heard a clicking sound every 5-10 seconds. A/C was off, even the vent was off.

Any idea what this could be?

I would have jumped on the A/C compressor, given the time between clicks, but I'm not sure why it would be doing it if you had it turned off. If the vent was set to defrost, then the compressor would run too, but you said you had the vent set to off....really strange. The only thing I could suggest would be to start the A/C and see if the sound is identical to what you were hearing with the a/c off. Maybe there's a problem with the A/C in that it doesn't turn off at all?

Yeah it does it when the A/C is on and when the A/C is off. It's the same clicking sound you would get normally when a car is cooling down when turned off. I guess I will run it by Ford, it's due for an oil change anyways.

I had this sound on my last car...it was the after market turbo-back exhaust. Shut the car off after a nice drive and you would hear little pops/metallic clicks every so often. Is this what you are referring to?

Yeah, but those clicks when the engine cooling off is the same sound that I hear when the car is running.

Engine cooling off means the car is idling? it still could be the exhaust. Please let us know what it is when you bring it in.

My guess is the alternator clutch engaging and disengaging. Or possibly the fan but you would hear that come on or off after the click. I'm 99% sure it's nothing to worry about but ask the Ford tech and let us know. Best of luck.

I have a pretty loud clicking every few seconds as well. It just started & occurs only when the A/C is on. What exactly is that & does it mean something has went? or is that supposed to be when the compressor is on?

May not be a problem. But it's makes the car sound like a POS...
