I'm glad this thread came up. I'm very interested in knowing all the cool little things that can be done with Sync/Nav. I ordered the Electronics Package on my 2011 and I can't wait to actually play with it.

Reading through this already, I realized something I didn't know. There's a USB in the glove box? So I could just put my iPod in there and leave it there and it would be good to go? If so, that's awesome.

No, there is one in the center console. I was saying there SHOULD be one in the glove box.

Edit: Just read my previous post and I did say glove box, it has been corrected ... sorry for the confusion. Not enough coffee yet.

ohhh.. Gotcha.

I knew about the console one, thought there was one that I had missed.

Still, same question applies. I can just leave the iPod in the console all the time and it would be good to go?

Ford, IMO, should throw one of these in with every new Mustang. It also would be nice if there were a USB port/cable hanging out in the glove box where it would be a lot more convenient to store a USB thumb drive long term. I can't be the only one that bought a large, fast thumb drive just for use in the car, can I?
I bought a 16GB drive to leave in the car so no you are not the only one. Thank you for the idea of the cable I was always afraid that I would break the usb port or the drive itself the way it sticks out. I also have to agree that the sync and nav system is fantastic. Like some one else said job 1 well done. Also thanks fordengineer again for trackiing my car last year.

I don't see why you couldn't, but I wouldn't leave my ipod in the car. I'm not sure how extreme heat/cold/humidity affects those things.

After I got my Iphone I had an extra Ipod touch. So I leave that hooked up in the center console compartment all the time. Its been in there without leaving since last summer. I really should pull it out to sync it with my new songs...

but there is other USB connections too. There should be connections on the SYNC module that is located somewhere behind of near the actual glovebox. The one works fine for me, but if you wanted more I am sure you could rig a USB hub to the SYNC module and have it all stealthy.

I leave my extra iPod in the car. Haven't taken the iPod out since I brought the car home. It has been connected since day 1, except once when I took it out to update with new songs I downloaded.

Sync doesn't support USB hubs, i've tried it and it actually said something like "USB hub not supported" or something like that. It really would be nice to have more than one. I charge my Blackberry with the USB slot also. If my phone is charging I can't use the iPod, which sucks. It would be nice to be able to do both at the same time.

Did you run the cable out of the console, so you could close it? I use the mini plug aux in with my Fuze so I can listen to Audio Books. I have to leave the console upen to acess the controls on the fuze, if the phone rings and I have to pause it or what ever.

I know in my case, the ipod cable is good for allowing me to lay the Ipod touch on the bottom of the console. If im charging my Iphone with the cable, I run it forward into the cup holder area, lay the phone in and close the console lid. It puts a little pressure on the cable, but no serious pinching, and its totally hidden.
