Default How to: make your car's aux port turn off

Who has got one? i haven't been able to find any info anywhere. taco bill where are you? i have seen people do everything from add trunk release buttons to changing dash LEDs to making your windows go up and down from they fob. SOMEONE has to have tried this. im tired of having to, or forgetting to unplug things from it like my radar detector every time i turn off my car.

I know of what you speak. I got tired of having to turn my detector on and off. Years ago I got a ticket simply because I forgot to turn my detector on. On my '06, I hard wired my detector to a switched terminal in the fuse box.

If you want to mod it so the power turns on and off, you could put a relay in the wire going to it and use some wire that is switched to supply the "signal" to the relay. Using an un-used circuit (switched) in the fuse box and snaking a wire up to the area in the center of the top of the windshield (like into the little console where the map lights are) and then down to the detector would probably be easier. It would be a bitch to get to the power outlet wire.

Maybe I'm dumb, but could you explain why you would want to turn your aux power off?

you could tap into your ignition power. That way, when you turn your car off, the power is gone in that switch. You can either tap into your radio harness, or window switch. Best buy will do it for pretty cheap.
