What about those of us whose insurance will pay for a brand new model if our current model meets a tragic end on the road? ;-)

I was happy with the Stang I bought. I passed on a 10 GT that was sitting right next to my 09 GT because I LOVE the 06-09 S197 body style. I was happy when I bought my car and I am even happier now that I've done a few mods that make it even better. Like another poster said, a faster more powerfull car will always come out the year after you buy you car so I just dont sweat the small stuff.

I am happy with my car. I wanted it since 04, I finally got it last september, and I am completely happy with it. If I ever suffer from "power envy", I will go F/I. Then life will be good again

power would be nice...but I miss the blower whine

and to be honest, my 315 ponies right now is "plenty". we'll see how that goes in 1-2 years when I get spanked by a few 2011+ GT's

I sold my 2007 GT and bought me a 2007 GT500, found a good deal and couldn't pass it up. Even before i found my GT500 i wasn't worried because i had some money sitting back in savings to put a supercharger on the GT but then found the GT500. And honestly the GT was fast enough for a DD especially when i just get stuck in traffic a lot and rarely see speeds over 70.

This is always an option...

So what's the rule of thumb for a power to the ground limit on an 05-'10 GT? What's the weak point?

Electric steering scares me. What happens when the car shuts off or the computer gets a glitch or there is interference while driving. Previous mustang owners have mentioned having some sort of mysterious electical failures. I want my steering shaft and want my throttle cable back too.

Not sure on that since I havent hit the "power envy" yet

I am sure one of the F/I guys will chime in soon though. I think the popular belief is about 475-500 hp is the highest you should on the stock internals. Past that and you are pushing your luck.

I'm pretty happy with my 08 GT. The new Mustangs are nice, but it's not a whole new car so I just can't justify the price. I bought my GT for $18,500. A new GT is roughly $30,000. So $11,500 for just a hp bump? Eh, maybe next time Ford.
