Default HID installation problem

Hey,

I installed an HID kit from retro-solutions into my 2006 mustang. However, they won't come on. I am at a loss. I am extremely frustrated, everything I see and read said this would take an hour tops and it well beyond 5.

All the wires are connected, the fuze doesn't appear to be bad and I tested the HIDs with my car on and off. My fog lights come on, but not my HIDs (those are installed in my headlamps.

Does anyone have any idea of what is going on?

I would contact RetroSolutions. They have great customer service. I have their kit and I haven't had any issues at all.

Try to take the plug that was originally plugged into your stock bulb that now goes into the ballast and switch the plug around. Like unplug it and flip it and plug it back in if you can. If you cant do that try to remove the pins from the plug and swap them.

I am not familiar with retro solutions kits but some the polarity is flipped kinda like installing leds in your car sometimes you have to flip the bulb to get it to work. Just trying to throw some ideas out there. Good luck

Check your ground wires. Make sure you have a good ground source.

I too would suspect grounds. Make sure you connect to good clean bare metal.

Some pics would help. I have the same kit and had some issues at first too but, it was just minor stuff like not connecting it correctly to my headlamp module.

Already present factory ground locations ( there
are plenty of them everywhere) are the best
place to grond aftermarket electrical items.
I would think the 'kit' would use the factory
supplied ground on the OEM headlight connector?

I am almost confident that the grounding is not the issue. I not only changed the grounding wire location to 2 different spots, one of which was already used to ground other electronics (some were the same places that I saw on youtube videos) but just to be safe, I connected the two grounds to both of the ballasts together, then took a wire to the negative terminal of the battery. This was simply a test to see if my issue was grounding. They did not come on.

I would love to supply some pictures, but I disconnected everything so I could use my headlights for now. I don't have a garage so I have to time my visits to my parents place. But let me say that as far as I could see, it was hooked up according to the directions supplied in the kit and according to the videos I saw on you tube. I even used the stangmods youtube video as a guide for their installation.
