Default Anyone deal with a cracked windshield?

Well the other day driving on I75 I got a rock chip in the corner of my window...and 5 hours later it splintered into a line right across my line of sight. Anyone deal with getting a window replaced? Any problems with getting another window with the mustang emblem at the top?

Had mine replaced at an Elite/Safelite in Pueblo, CO. they asked if I wanted the decal on the window. I didn't, but they were aware it was supposed to have one. I guess they charge a bit extra for it. Dunno how much, but didn't seem like it would be a problem for them to put it on there.

Also, don't take the first price they quote. Ask if they have any discounts. They took like $30 off just because I said I was just checking prices. But I didn't bother because it was a really good deal, IMO. under $150. Paid out if pocket because my deductible is $500.

They did a nice job, and always give a free can of spray foam glass cleaner, which I personally dig.

Took the car through a car wash a few days later. No leaks. Works for me.

Good luck, whomever you choose.

I cracked mine two years ago. I would recommend NOT letting someone fix it by coming to your cars location. It was recommended by someone I trust that alot of times the 'mobile' windshield replacement places just arent as good as doing it in a temperature controlled shop. But obviously that is just a friends opinion, so take it for what its worth.

Mine was around $350 when it was all said and done (from what I remember, but its been awhile since it was done), but I did get the windshield with the decal on it so it would remain stock in that way.

Two years later and TONS of washes down the road I've never had a problem related to the replacement.

Yeah, I would for sure take it to the shop. Not a driveway deal.

I had a windshield replaced on my SUV by a mobil shop about 2 years ago. They did it in my driveway and I never had a problem with it. A cheap $150 IMO. Considering I've logged well over 1,000,000 miles of driving on over a dozen vehicles and that was my 1st cracked windshield I guess I should consider myself lucky.

When they replaced your windshield was it in the summer or was the tempts warm? I could see where it would be a problem during the cold winters with the sealer not setting properly.
I know for my SHR Louvers, they had to be installed with tempts at least 60°.

It was probably in the 60's when he did it if I recall.

Pretty sure windshield replacement is free in Florida. Not sure about the mustang emblem, always wondered if they'd replace that or not.

Yes, windshield replacement in FL is free (lived there 37 years and had my share of cracked windshields) as long as the vehicle is insured. Contact your insurance company (also tell them it's a logo'd windshield) and they'll tell you who they recommend, however, I'd take it to the shop and not let the "do it in the driveway".
