2011 Vert poll
I am torn between a vert or coupe for my 2011 stang. I am asking all you vert owners out there if you would get the vert again or if you would rather have a coupe.
There is nothing like having the top down but does it get old when it's hot or from leaks or other reasons.
I think I can live with a lot of minor inconvieniences but the top will stay down all the time, whenever I ban.
Tell me your likes and dislikes about convertible life!
Thanks

I had a Jeep prior to buying my Mustang which is why a convertible was necessary. Once you get used to having the top down (or off in the Jeep), you'll want all of your vehicle to be capable of that. I have absolutely ZERO complaints about my 2010 Convertible. The material is top notch. Wind is not an issue either. Ford designed it well and the wind goes right around you and probably won't even mess up your hair. Do keep a ball cap or something in the car though because you'll have a major sunburn going in the summer if you don't
I say go for it.
I say go for it.
You are right about the reinforcements underneath, though, and I'm sure those add a bit of weight.
My Shelby GT vert is great to have, but only on those rare days when it's sunny and not too hot! Or nights when it's not too cold!
The light bar gets it a lot of attention, and I love driving with the top down and being able to see the landscape a lot better than in the coupe Mustang.
You don't have to wax the roof.
With the windows rolled up your hair won't get mussed up too badly, even at freeway speeds.
There are a bunch of downers though:
I have to keep it covered, as there is a cat in my alley that likes to sleep on it and shed all over it. I have to pour water on it when I come home when it's been raining and can't put the cover on so hopefully it won't sleep on it.
The top takes a long time to go down/ go up.
With the top down the interior gets dirtier much quicker than the coupe.
The trunk is smaller and I can't lower the rear seat so it has less luggage space.
The rear speakers are positioned behind the front seats, so don't sound as good as in the coupe.
When the top is down it will start to rise when I hit about 80 mph and don't have the cover over it.
Road noise is noticeably higher than in the coupe.
Would I get one again? Probably not. I don't think it's worth the additional cost over the coupe. For a daily driver I feel a coupe is the way to go.
But if I had a garage where I could keep it and buy another car, I'd never get rid of it!

Location location location.
I had my top down tonight at 8:30 Pm and with the heated seats it was great. Today it was 80 and sunny.
If live where you can enjoy the top down all the time then go for it. I have always dreamed of having a vert and thus far I couldn't imagine not doing it again.
I guess that's why I live in LA.

Whichever floats your boat.

That's something they fixed on the 2010..... When the top folds down the portion of the top that is exposed is vinyl on top (as they all are), with a very hard material (metal?) underneath. That's gives it a lot of weight and doesn't move at all at any highway speed. No cover necessary!
